The development stage of the website design relates to the data entry and dynamic aspects of the website. After the visual theme has been created for the site, the information must be incorporated in an appealing, and easy to understand way. The most simple style of site is one which does not change often, these are referred to as static sites. Websites which change often, are called dynamic sites.

Static Websites

As we have mentioned, a static site is one which does not change the information displayed often. For example, a website detailing the biography of Ned Kelly is not likely to change often. The details on the site do not change regularly, and any changes are made by us, the website developers.

Dynamic Websites

A dynamic site usually has information which is updated on a regular basis. An example of this would be a blog, or online diary. In this case, the blogger usually updates the information on the page on a daily basis.

Content Management Systems

A Content Management System (CMS) is a website application which allows the client to change the information displayed on the website through their web browser from any internet connection. The HC Schools system is an example of this type of dynamic site.

eCommerce Sites

eCommerce sites are sites which sell products or services online. These are generally highly dynamic sites which give the client full control over the content of the site, including the prices and product information for each product. Web Applications

Website applications allow a website to act as if it were a program running on the local computer. The website can allow users from different locations access the same information as it is updated from another location. Website applications often run as quick as a desktop application.
